About the Author
Michael J. Gorman holds the Raymond E. Brown Chair in Biblical Studies and Theology at St. Mary's Seminary and University, Baltimore, Maryland. A highly regarded New Testament scholar, he has also written Reading Revelation Responsibly: Uncivil Worship and Witness and Elements of Biblical Exegesis: A Basic Guide for Students and Ministers.

Great Summary of Paul

This is ideal for a student, but more so for someone bogged down in the minutiae of Pauline studies looking to regain perspective. Gorman doesn't let you miss issues surrounding what we don't know with certainty -- text or authorship, whether a phrase is Paul's or an appropriated hymn, if he was married or haunted my some psychological demons -- but his emphasis is on reaching a more historically informed and theologically sophisticated understanding what we need to know better: Paul's proclamation of Christ crucified and raised.

This is a book that every serious student of the Bible should have.

Great Introduction to Paul

If you are thinking about beginning a serious study of Paul and his life then this book is a wonderful place to start. Gorman is an elegant writer and does a thorough job explaining Paul and how his canononical written letters relate to his life and teachings. Gorman is very upfront with his thoughts and doubts; for instance he details his thoughts on Pauline authorship of the letters and honestly conveys how his thoughts have changed through his career.

The summaries of the letters are concise but thorough. In addition he provides an up to date bibliography on the best full commentaries currently available.

If Paul and his letters have intrigued you and you want to know more about the man and his writing, then this book will provide a solid foundation and provide you with many more avenues to explore in your reading.

Solid stuff...

Gorman's book was an assigned text for a seminary course on the Pauline letters. In "Apostle of the Crucified Lord," he undertakes the substantial task of not only providing helpful background and analysis of Paul and the context of his ministry and writing, but also offers one chapter of commentary for each of Paul's letters. Such a sweeping task legitimately warrants almost 600 pages of text. Thankfully, Gorman does a good job of streamlining his analysis to keep the book somewhat manageable.

Gorman's approach is both academic and accessible. His work cites authors across various streams of theology, and his conclusions are gracious but not generic. He offers his own opinions while granting that other thoughtful positions exist on many particular issues. I have a hard time throwing him into either a conservative or liberal theological camp (which I suspect aligns with his intentions).

Though his writing style was a bit dense at times, this book is one that will have a prominent place on my bookshelf, and I expect that I'll be referring to it frequently over the years to help me continue to more fully appreciate and better understand the depth and breadth of all that God wants to teach us through the letters of his faithful apostle, Paul.

I love this book

I love this book, read it often when I have the time. Covers every area possible in regards to what could happen. Includes list of items for any emergency kit or bug out bag. Includes list of items to barter. If you want to learn how to protect your family, this book clearly lists, day by day, how to prepare for the worst. Overall, this book is very useful and really a must for any modern prep er.

Nice collection

of images from all modalities. In school we have been using Kelley's Sectional Anatomy for Imaging Professionals, which I have not been very happy with, so I purchased this book. I love the fact that on one side I can see the image without any labels, and on the other side a lot of the anatomy is labeled AND outlined. This is a great imaging anatomy book for any visual learner.

Good collection of images from various methods with nicely identified structures. But it is not daily practice-oriented. There's not a word about important topics such as neck spaces, peritoneal spaces and ligaments, mediastinal lymphnode stations, among others. I found Butler's Applied Radiological Anatomy much more useful.

Very impressive book to read! This is very helpful book. I am about to take the course online but I am glad to have found this book. I know that this will help me with stress and be more productive with work and life. The main thing that I feel for anyone especially myself is that if we can redirect our brain from always going to the negative, bad and etc. This would be a great thing for everyone. Inspirational beyond imagination!

After reading this book of true wisdom and knowledge I realised just how little we as humans know about the universe, life and ourselves. I also realised how useless our education system has been, what a waste of precious life and just how dumbed down our society really is. We live in a world bombarded by lies, deception and superficiality, when it need not be this way at all.

We think we know, but we know nothing! We think we are right, but in actual fact we are wrong. We believe those with titles behind their names know more than us but who really know very little themselves. Just as the Native American Indians understood and identified with the Great Spirit within and had direct contact with the spirits of the universe and all of nature, so this book will shift your thinking and make you realise life from a totally different dimension and angle. A life worth living and as it's so true title. It's time to come alive, it will make you come alive and live live as it should be lived. Abundantly, happily and healthily!

Each page gives you a great opportunity to discuss different important topics with your kids.

I've had the pleasure to meet the author in person and I love the whole project.
Definitely a project worth following.

A must-read!

The A-Z of 13 Habits: Inspired by Warren Buffett is a story that is very engaging and enjoyable to read. If I had only read this book when I was a kid, I probably would be a lot better off financially than I am currently. This book should be a must-read!

If anyone ever milked a brandname... AVOID!

Bought the 'A-Z of 13 Habits: Inspired by Warren Buffett" along with the "The tale of Tortoise Buffett: Inspired by Warren Buffett" by Lucas Remmerswaal.

As I have 3 kids in the tender age of 4-6 and as a longtime professional investor myself, I hoped this book would indeed introduce some of the Buffetesque wisdom in a subtle way to my children.

How incredibly disappointed was I, when I received and read what turned out to be these two naive leaflets, for they cannot be called children's books.

This is such a blatant attempt to milk the Buffett brandname from well-meaning parents.

The text is attrocious, no structure and absolutely without any didactic value. It smacks of a back-of-the-envelope hurried cut-and-paste of Buffett's generic rules that us adults have come across in the numerous books about the sage and indeed by the man himself in his annual shareholder letters.

It is absolutely not for children (not mine anyway), it is so out of touch and out of its depth ( I mean how hard can it be??). I expected something kids can relate with and be excited about... in contrast the author believes that by drawing a semblance of Buffett on each page and by promoting Coka-Cola the kids would somehow have their internal light bulb switched on... to Buffett's original musings.

I truly did not expect one of my worst investments ever would have been in the name of Buffett, but I guess everyone can be suckered in when our guard is let down so fancily.

Aesop's tales are a million times better than this ... and they were conceived a few thousand years ago...

Very big shame, and a total waste of time, expectations and money. So unlike what Buffett should stand for.
